Hypnotherapy with Ben Roussel, C.Ht.

Why Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy works by addressing and changing the subconscious beliefs and feelings we carry around that often guide our actions. Hypnotherapy works by communicating directly with the parts of our mind that hold these subconscious beliefs, instincts and faulty narratives. In hypnotherapy, we work together to turn your brain into a friend.

How It Works

Our minds are made up of the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. Our conscious mind is what's in our current awareness: judgement calls, things we like, don't like, fantasies, daydreams, feelings we can identify, memory. Our subconscious mind holds the thoughts, beliefs and feelings from all of our past experiences. We often aren't even aware of them.

Imagine an iceberg: your conscious mind is everything above the water line - how you act, behave, your preferences. But the stuff under the water line? The huge part of the iceberg we can't even see? That's your subconscious. And it's what guides our behaviors - so if we change that? We can change everything.

Why Work With Me?

I discovered hypnotherapy at a drug treatment center. Yes, I’ve done some living. Childhood trauma survivor? Yep. Painful break-ups? Had them. Bi-polar disorder? HIV? I’m healthy because I treat them both. Death of a pet? The worst. Smoking habit? Quit it. Coming out to a conservative Christian family? Amen.

I spent three decades and a small fortune on my own mental health, but I never had the breakthroughs I hoped for. Through two months of weekly hypnotherapy sessions, in tandem with daily meditation and weekly psychotherapy, I made peace with childhood trauma; learned how to forgive; repaired familial relationships; and discovered and experienced self-love. I learned to quiet, still and release the perpetual shame-based anxiety miserably propelling me through life at breakneck speed.

You Can Do This.

Change your relationship with your thoughts.

Through hypnosis, we will work together to create greater distance between your thoughts and emotions, making mind space for thoughts to occur without suffering from them.

Change the tone of the voice in your head and what that tells you.

Our inner-critic, that voice in our head, embedded in the subconscious, comes to us so early in life and is so intrinsic to what makes us tick that most of us never stop to take a minute and look at how loud and diminishing that voice can feel in the body. We’ll work together to change the tone and rewrite the script.

Release your self-limitations.

Through hypnosis, we can explore self-sabotaging, self-defeating beliefs and decisions your subconscious serves up like tennis balls and train your mind to let them fly right by.
